Fozen Mocha

Mocha Freeze

I have [finally] successfully worked out one of my all time favorite drinks, the Mocha Freeze.
I love these things, they have a chocolate/coffee flavor and are blended with ice (like a slushy). The problem is twofold. 1. A Mocha Freeze is made with milk and on a vegan diet you can't have milk. 2. I don't drink coffee any more. I gave it up for religious reasons. Needless to say it's been a long time since I've had a Mocha Freeze.
I started thinking about this and came up with a possible solution; a Mocha Freeze made without milk or coffee.
I've been using a vanilla flavored soy milk to mix my protein drinks and this is what really got me thinking about the a vegan Mocha.
I've been piecing it together in my head for a while and today I finally gave it a shot. Here's how it came together.

Into a blender put:
2 cups of crushed ice
2 cups of vanilla flavored soy milk
4 tablespoons Pero (Pero is a coffee substitute that is sometimes referred to as "Mormon Coffee" Pero contains no coffee but has a strong coffee flavor.)
2 or 3 tablespoons (depending on taste) Unsweetened cocoa powder.
and blend until smooth.
This recipe made enough for 4 drinks.
(I didn't have any chocolate syrup on hand but if you do before you pour this into a glass you can turn the glass on its side and use the syrup to line the glass, it looks cool and adds to the chocolatey flavor. Just be certain the chocolate syrup you use is vegan.)

The photo above is the end result and I don't mind saying that it is probably the best Mocha Freeze I've ever had.
